American-Made MBR Membranes & Wastewater Treatment Systems
A3 USA manufactures MBR membranes made in USA: MaxFlow™ rigid flat-sheet modules built in Jacksonville, NC. Our American-made MBR membranes power onsite treatment and reuse for data centers, industrial campuses and municipal projects.
The constraint isn't water. It's where the water goes.
Most conversations about data center water usage stop at supply. In practice, supply is rarely what stalls a project. Discharge is.
Cooling tower blowdown and sanitary wastewater need somewhere to go. In fast-growing areas, the sewer may not accept a large new industrial flow, the treatment plant may have no spare capacity, or pretreatment limits can make discharge expensive.
- Less discharge means a smaller sewer connection, or none.
- Less withdrawal reduces potable demand and drought exposure.
- Your schedule is no longer tied to a municipal expansion.
Typical MBR effluent
Clear water, from MBR membranes made in USA
A membrane bioreactor combines biological treatment with ultrafiltration in one compact process, producing clear, low-turbidity water ready for reuse or further polishing.
MaxFlow™ membranes are rigid flat-sheet modules designed for long service life, low fouling and easy cleaning, for both new plants and retrofits.
- Collect
Sanitary wastewater and eligible process streams are routed to the onsite plant. - Treat
The MBR removes solids, organic matter, nutrients and pathogens. - Polish
Additional treatment can be integrated where cooling chemistry requires it. - Reuse
Treated water returns to cooling towers, irrigation or fire storage.
Siting + permitting
Set the path A working water system.
The right strategy depends on the state, discharge route and how the reclaimed water will be used. The earlier it is settled, the less it costs.
- Where effluent goes.
Full reuse, partial reuse with discharge, or land application.
- How water is used.
Cooling makeup, irrigation and fire storage can carry different requirements.
- Agencies involved.
TCEQ in Texas, PA DEP in Pennsylvania, plus local utilities and counties.
- Layout + schedule.
Footprint, setbacks, storage, campus phasing and critical-path permits.
Membrane supply. Domestic MBR membranes with AIS/BABA-ready documentation help keep permitting and procurement on schedule.
One accountable team
More than membranes:
a complete wastewater system
One team, one contract—from the first agency meeting through daily operations.
Project spotlight
A turnkey model for wastewater membrane systems.
Project details for the closest comparable installation are currently being validated. The same permit, design, build and operate model is what reUse brings to data center campuses.
Every project uses MaxFlow™ membranes manufactured in Jacksonville, NC, so replacement modules and technical support stay domestic.

MBR Membrane FAQ: Reuse, Quality and Operations
Where are MaxFlow™ MBR membranes manufactured?
MaxFlow™ is the only MBR membrane manufactured in the USA, produced at our facility in Jacksonville, NC, with AIS/BABA-ready documentation and domestic lead times.
Can data center cooling water be recycled or reused?
Yes. Wastewater generated on a data center campus can be treated onsite and returned to the cooling towers as makeup water, or used for irrigation, wash-down and fire suppression storage. MBR treatment produces clear, low-turbidity water suited to reuse, and reverse osmosis can be added where dissolved solids need to come down further.
How much water can an onsite reuse system recover?
It depends on campus wastewater flows, cooling tower cycles of concentration and the reuse quality required. A3-USA sizes each plant to the site’s actual flows and phasing, so recovery can grow as new data halls come online.
What water quality is required for cooling tower makeup?
Makeup quality is defined by cooling tower materials, the chemical treatment program, target cycles of concentration and permit limits. MBR addresses suspended solids, organics and nutrients; additional polishing can address dissolved minerals when required.
Does reUse operate the plant after construction?
Yes. A3-USA provides ongoing operations and maintenance, including licensed operators, monitoring, regulatory reporting and membrane maintenance, so the data center team does not have to staff a wastewater operation.
What happens if the sewer can't take our discharge?
That is the scenario onsite reuse is built for. Reducing or eliminating discharge to the municipal system can make a site viable when the local sewer or treatment plant has no capacity for a large new flow.
Where does reUse work?
A non-availability waiver may be requested. Waivers require justification and a public comment period, so they carry schedule risk and should be identified during design rather than during construction.
